Toilet That Runs Constantly, Won't Flush Properly, or Keeps Clogging

A running toilet wastes thousands of gallons of water a month and inflates your water bill without any visible sign. A toilet that won’t flush with full force, rocks at the base, or clogs repeatedly isn’t just annoying. It’s signaling a problem with the fill valve, flapper, wax seal, or the drain line below. We diagnose the actual cause and fix it rather than replacing parts at random.

Slow or Clogged Bathroom Drain

Hair, soap scum, and toothpaste residue accumulate in bathroom sink and shower drains faster than most people expect. A drain that’s slow but still moves can usually be cleared quickly. A drain that’s completely backed up, or one where water pools in the shower every time, may have a blockage deeper in the branch line that a simple clearing won’t reach.

Dripping Faucet or Leaking Fixtures

A bathroom faucet that drips after shut off, a showerhead that won’t stop running, or a tub spout that leaks when the shower is on are all signs of worn internal components, cartridges, O-rings, or diverter valves that have reached the end of their service life. These are straightforward repairs that eliminate water waste and stop the noise that keeps you up at night.

Water Damage Around the Toilet, Tub, or Shower

Soft flooring around the base of the toilet, water staining on the ceiling below a bathroom, or moisture seeping from the edge of a tub surround all indicate water has been escaping its intended path, often for longer than you’d think. Wax ring failures, grout and caulk breakdown, and deteriorated supply connections are common culprits in older bathrooms.

Bathroom Renovation or New Fixture Installation

A new vanity, a freestanding soaking tub, a walk-in shower, a comfort-height toilet, or a full bathroom addition, any fixture that connects to supply or drain lines needs a licensed plumber to make those connections correctly. We handle both the rough-in phase and the trim-out at project completion, coordinating directly with your contractor when needed.

Why Northeast Plumbiing

Our Bathroom Plumbing Process

Need Help Now

From your first call to a fully functioning bathroom, here's what working with Northeast Plumbing looks like.

Bathroom Plumbing Problems Don't Stay Small

The bathroom is the most-used plumbing space in any home, and problems there have a way of compounding quickly. A running toilet left alone for six months costs real money on your water bill before it fails completely. A slow shower drain that’s ignored becomes a standing-water problem, and prolonged moisture at the base of a shower pan leads to subfloor damage that turns a $200 drain clearing into a $2,000 floor repair. Small bathroom plumbing issues are worth fixing promptly, not because they’re urgent today, but because they get significantly more expensive the longer they’re deferred.

Northeast Plumbing handles the complete range of bathroom plumbing: toilet repair and replacement, faucet and fixture repair, shower and tub drain service, vanity and sink installation, supply line replacement, wax ring replacement, shutoff valve repair, and full bathroom rough-in and trim-out for remodels and additions. We work in bathrooms of every size and configuration, powder rooms, full baths, primary suites, basement bathrooms, and everything in between. We also carry a wide range of commonly needed parts on the truck, so most bathroom repairs don’t require a second visit to finish what the first one started.

Bathrooms in Greater Cleveland’s older housing stock come with their own recurring themes, original chrome supply lines that have never been replaced, cast iron drain stacks that transmit every sound through the house, tile surrounds that were never properly waterproofed behind the wall, and shutoff valves that haven’t been operated in so long they’ve seized. We work in these bathrooms every day and know what to look for beyond the obvious issue. When we’re done with the repair you called about, we’ll tell you if we noticed anything else worth knowing, without pressure to address it on the spot.

Bathroom Plumbing FAQs

My toilet runs on and off by itself throughout the day, what causes that?

That’s called phantom flushing, and it almost always means the flapper, the rubber seal at the bottom of the tank, is worn and no longer seating properly. Water slowly leaks from the tank into the bowl until the fill valve detects the drop in level and refills. It’s a relatively inexpensive fix, but it wastes a significant amount of water over time. If replacing the flapper doesn’t solve it, the fill valve itself may need to be replaced.

Yes. Low shower pressure is usually a clogged showerhead, a failing cartridge in the valve body, or a supply line issue. Temperature problems, water that’s too hot, too cold, or that swings unpredictably, typically indicate a worn pressure-balancing cartridge inside the shower valve. We diagnose and replace the internal components without requiring a full valve replacement in most cases.

If the toilet is structurally sound and the issue is a worn internal component, flapper, fill valve, flush valve, or wax ring, repair is almost always the right answer. If the toilet is cracked, very old, constantly running despite multiple repairs, or you’re updating the bathroom and want a comfort-height or water-efficient model, replacement makes more sense. We assess the condition honestly and give you pricing for both where applicable.

Soft flooring around a toilet base almost always means the wax ring, the seal between the toilet and the drain flange, has failed and water has been seeping under the floor with every flush. This is a common issue in older bathrooms and needs to be addressed promptly because subfloor damage spreads quickly once moisture gets underneath. We reset the toilet with a new wax ring and assess the subfloor condition while we’re in there.

Yes. Adding a bathroom, whether it’s a new half-bath, a full primary suite bathroom, or a basement bathroom below the main drain line, involves running new supply lines, tying into the existing drain system, proper venting, and in the case of below-grade bathrooms, an ejector pump installation. We handle all of it and pull the required permits so the work is inspected and code-compliant.

Called at 11pm with a flooded basement. Tech was at my door in under an hour, had it fixed by 1am, and didn't charge me a cent extra for the time. Unreal service.

Had three plumbers look at my water heater situation. Northeast was the only one who gave me a straight answer on price upfront. Did the job clean, done in 90 minutes.

We use them for all our commercial properties. Fast, reliable, and they actually show up when they say they will. That alone puts them ahead of most contractors.
