Burst or Actively Leaking Pipe

A pipe that has burst or is actively leaking needs to be stopped immediately. Locate your main water shutoff, typically near the water meter in the basement or utility room, and shut it off to stop water flow to the house. Then call us. Every minute an active pipe leak runs unchecked, water is spreading into walls, flooring, and ceilings. We respond fast, find the break, and make the repair before the damage compounds further.

Sewage Backup Into the Home

Raw sewage backing up through a floor drain, toilet, or tub is a health emergency as well as a plumbing emergency. Stop using all water fixtures immediately, additional flow will only push more sewage into the living space. This is one of the calls we treat with the highest urgency. A main line backup or a failed ejector pump are the most common causes, and both can be diagnosed and addressed the same night.

No Hot Water

A water heater that fails overnight, particularly in winter, isn’t something most households can wait until morning to address, especially with young children or elderly residents. We carry commonly needed water heater parts and replacement units on our trucks and can restore hot water the same visit in most cases, regardless of the hour.

Overflowing Toilet With No Sign of Clearing

An overflowing toilet that won’t clear after shutting off the supply valve and plunging indicates a blockage too deep or too solid to address at the fixture. Continuing to attempt to flush risks further overflow and water damage to the bathroom floor and the ceiling below. We clear deep toilet and drain line blockages at any hour and verify the line is fully open before we leave.

Frozen Pipe Before It Bursts

If you turn on a faucet and get no water, particularly after a hard overnight freeze, you likely have a frozen pipe. Don’t attempt to thaw it with an open flame. A frozen pipe is already under stress, and improper thawing can cause it to split. Shut off the main water supply and call us immediately. Safe, controlled thawing before the pipe bursts prevents the far more expensive and disruptive repair that follows a rupture.

Why Northeast Plumbiing

Our Emergency Response Process

Need Help Now

When something goes wrong at 2am, you need a plumber who actually answers. Here's what working with Northeast Plumbing looks like.

Real 24/7 Service

A lot of plumbing companies advertise 24/7 emergency service. What that actually means varies significantly; some have a tech on call who may or may not respond, some route calls to an answering service with a promise of a morning callback, and some charge rates after hours that more than double the cost of the same repair during business hours. When you’re standing in a flooding basement at midnight, the difference between real emergency service and a listing that says “24/7” matters enormously.

Northeast Plumbing answers emergency calls directly, dispatches a licensed plumber, gives you a realistic arrival window upfront and prices the job based on what needs to be done, not what time the call came in. No after-hours multipliers. No holiday surcharges. The same upfront pricing you’d get at 10am applies at 10pm and at 3am on Christmas morning. We tell you what it will cost before we start, and we don’t add to it after the fact.

The most important thing you can do while waiting for a plumber in a water emergency is control the water. Know where your main shutoff is before you need it. It’s typically near the water meter in the basement or in a utility closet. If a pipe has burst or an appliance is leaking, shutting off the main stops the flow immediately and limits the spread of damage while help is on the way. If you’re not sure where your shutoff is, call us when you call for service, we’ll walk you through finding it over the phone before the tech arrives.

Emergency Plumbing FAQs

Do you really not charge extra for nights, weekends, or holidays?

Correct. We price the job, not the time of day. The cost of a repair is based on what’s broken and what it takes to fix it, not when you called. A lot of plumbing companies charge after-hours multipliers that can significantly inflate an already stressful bill. We don’t. What we quote before we start is what you pay when we’re done.

First, control the water. Locate your main shutoff valve, typically near the water meter in the basement or utility room, and shut off the water supply to the house if there’s an active leak or burst pipe. For a sewage backup, stop using all fixtures immediately. For a frozen pipe, shut off the main and don’t attempt to thaw it with an open flame or heat gun. If you’re unsure where your shutoff is or what to do, call us, we’ll walk you through it over the phone while the tech is en route.

Response time depends on current call volume and your location within our service area. We give you a realistic arrival window when you call, not a vague “we’ll be there soon.” If our current availability extends beyond what your situation requires, we’ll tell you that too and help you understand your options. We’d rather give you an accurate window than an optimistic one that leaves you waiting.

Yes. Raw sewage contains pathogens including bacteria, viruses, and parasites that pose genuine health risks through contact or inhalation of contaminated air. Keep people and pets away from any area with sewage backup, don’t use any water fixtures in the home until the line is cleared, and ventilate the affected area if possible. We treat sewage backup calls as high-priority emergencies and respond accordingly.

We work with landlords and property managers on emergency calls regularly. If you manage a property where a tenant is experiencing an emergency, call us directly and provide the property address and any access information. We’ll coordinate with the tenant on arrival and keep you informed on what we find and what the repair scope involves. Written documentation of the emergency service call is provided for your records.

Called at 11pm with a flooded basement. Tech was at my door in under an hour, had it fixed by 1am, and didn't charge me a cent extra for the time. Unreal service.

Had three plumbers look at my water heater situation. Northeast was the only one who gave me a straight answer on price upfront. Did the job clean, done in 90 minutes.

We use them for all our commercial properties. Fast, reliable, and they actually show up when they say they will. That alone puts them ahead of most contractors.
